Go off the beaten tourist track for a trip northward up the rustic west coast and see the iconic view of Table Mountain from Bloubergstrand.  Depending on your interest, this tour can be done focusing on a combination of either food, scenery, nature or culture.

  • Scenery is plenty, from the 16 mile, longest stretch of beach in South Africa at Yzerfrontein to the old fishing village of Paternoster, where the buildings all have the same white-washed façade and the beach is littered with colorful fishing boats.  Photographers get ready!
  • In terms of food, there is craft beer at Darling Brew, wine at Groote Post, Darling Cellars or Cloof wine estate, olives at Darling Olives and even toffee tastings in the town of Darling!
  • The nature lover can find tranquility at Cape Columbine Nature Reserve, home to the last manned lighthouse in South Africa or a visit to the West Coast Fossil Park, where you’ll find the world’s richest concentration of fossils dating back over five million years ago.  In spring the wildflowers blooming at the West Coast National Park together with the birdlife it offers is a great option.
